When not to be a startup?

Asked by: 322 views Entrepreneurship

I am the developer of http://stacked.in/, a site developed for my personnel use and now few of my friends are using. This site is created out of passion for learning web technologies and to fulfill my needs for news reading and bookmarking.

I still add new features and techniques to find better result. I want this site to be useful for many but I do not want this to be a company or startup or any business venture.

Please advise me whether this is right mode to work or not?

    Hello Krish

Let me congratulate you. well i gone through your website and found that its good and another copy of http://www.samachar.com

you arranged each and every section in a good way. the same plan was in my mind from past, but the same plan with a unique twist,

yes ofcourse you dont need to maintain this website as a unique project started by a new company etc etc. you can just maintain the right RSS feeds from top websites so that the website will maintain latest data on the screen

    few of my suggestions

    1) when i click on a news item, if it opens in new tab, that will be good for me so that i can open the news items that i want to read. so that there wont be necessary on clicking the Back icon always :)

    2) it will be better to put a automatic page refresh option for every 1 minute, because as only text is going to be the major part, when ever website automatically refreshes for every minute, it can show up the latest news on the screen. This helps many people not to click on refresh button. Or you can do one thing, you can put up a digital timer on the website when ever 60 seconds completed, the website will automatically refreshes up and gets the latest content on the screen.

many things to share, hope at this time this is enough, please let me know about my feedback

    Thanks & Regards

    Hello Sai Pothuri,

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback and both the feedback has been incorporated into the live site. The refresh is done for every 10 minutes but I will observe the news change and try to come out with optimal refresh rate.

I would like to get more feedbacks from you. Stacked.in shall be providing more customization of news according to the user.

PS. I was looking for comment field to write this comment but I could not find out. I think, you may have comments so that user can comment on your answer. Because this post is not exactly an answer.
